Amitabh Bachchan delights UK media at exclusive Video Conference in London

The Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, delighted UK media at an exclusive Video Conference he took part in on Monday 7th April, in relation to his forthcoming lead role in Bhoothnath Returns. The charming screen icon warmly interacted and joked with the audience as he introduced his latest film.

Speaking about working closely with child actor Parth Bhalerao in the film, he said, “I believe the younger generation has a much brighter future than we had. Look at them, their confidence, they rarely have inhibitions while acting or in general in front of the camera. That is something which keeps us older actors on our toes! The younger lot impresses me with their sharp skills and how confidence comes naturally to them.”

The film’s message, he added, “Resonates with the current situation in India and urges everyone to go and vote. We should all be a part of the system and participate actively. The fearlessness and simplicity of the child protagonist should inspire and motivate us.”

Speaking about the genre of children-centric films in Indian cinema, he explained, “Although children’s films have been in the past too, I still feel that there is a serious dearth of films which are made for children or have a child artist as one of the main protagonists. They are the future and constitute a major part of our society, just like men or women, and that should reflect in our films too. I hope to see more films like that in the future.”

When asked about the current age of social media, Mr Bachchan said, “I think social media has immense and underestimated potential. Twitter and Facebook have given me an Extended Family (EF) as I call it. It connects not only me to the rest of the world but also people connect and form bonds with each other. I have numerous stories where they have bonded and met each other. I think it is a wonderful concept!”

Speaking about his fans in the UK, Mr Bachchan said, “They (the UK audience) have always supported us. Over the years, newer people have joined in and I hope we continue to have that special place in the hearts of the people in the UK.”

Amitabh Bachchan returns to delight audiences of all ages as he returns to the silver screen as his much loved, paranormal avatar makes a comeback in Bhootnath Returns, releasing in cinemas worldwide on 11th April 2014, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kishan Kumar, Renu Ravi Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan, and distributed internationally by B4U.
