Get Ready to Dance Bollywood style! Doonya is coming to London! Doonya is a cardio, strength building, dance-based workout programme perfectly choreographed to the latest high-energy songs from Bollywood. “Doonya” is the Hindi word for “world” and founders, Priya Pandya and Kajal Desai, strive to create a world and community where health and happiness are achieved through the exuberance of Bollywood.

A Doonya workout consists of four structured segments below, beginning with a warm-up followed by a Basics Drill of all the signature Doonya steps. Through an adjustable pace, the class is then guided through 11-12 choreographed routines that target the entire body and represents each Doonya style. Finally, a yoga-based cool down lowers the heart rate and stretches out the muscles for a well-balanced workout.

Bolly-Pop takes traditional South Asian styles of dance and fuses them with western forms, such as hip hop and jazz. It has several iconic Bollywood hip movements, which are taught from the perspective of honing in on the obliques.

Pop Bhangra is a celebration dance from the northern Indian and Pakistani state of Punjab, known for its energy and strong movements in the legs and shoulders. The basic motions focus on squeezing the shoulder blades together while keeping the arms tight.

Doonya’s Folk Style touches upon various regions of South Asia, whether it is dropping the sternum to the bellybutton or working the entire leg with Gujarat based glides and side-to-side jumps.

Classical Conditioning borrows from Classical Indian dance forms, Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Steeped in history, these forms date back to ancient India and are focused on story telling through intricate hand motions and expressive eyes. But at Doonya, Classical Conditioning works on toning calves, glutes, quads, hamstrings, arms shoulders and triceps.
