BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award nominated Feature ‘AN ACT OF TERROR’ the First Scottish Asian film to be PREMIERED at TONGUES ON FIRE Film Festival in London

An Act of Terror’ is the first ever Scottish Asian feature film to be nominated for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award. The movie is being premiered at the Tongues on Fire Festival where Abhiskek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Shyam Benegal are opening the festival, screening their films and also running various workshops.

Armed with a wonderfully evocative and engaging script by Shahid Nadeem, a British Asian human rights activist, multi award-winning playwright Pakistan, 'An Act of Terror' went ahead. The film was shot in Glasgow with only five core crew members and within nine days.

Overwhelmed by the need to strike back at the media jingoism that casts the Muslim community in Britain as natural suspects, Sarmed mortgaged his house and gave up his property business to finance this film. Without any pervious production experience this was to be his film school where he forced himself to learn production, camera work, editing and sound design. Sarmed had to re-edit the whole project when, in a freak incident, both his main project files and his backups got destroyed!

The post production finally completed, the rights of ‘An Act of Terror’ have now been made available for distribution by Stepping Stone Films.

The movie was invited by Tongues on Fire festival for inclusion and will be shown on the following dates:
