Exclusive Interview with Imran Khan (Punjabi Singer)

We caught up with the sexy, young, Imran Khan, the 23 year old Punjabi singer from Holland. He's made us wait two Long years for his album and gues what.....it was definatly worth the wait!! DesiMag.co.uk

His passion for singing started at the age of 12, whilst listening to Punjabi music and it never stopped for him since then. Hoping that one day people will listen to what he wants to give to the Asian Music Scene, he never gave up his dream and believed that everyone has a gift from god and you should ''never give up,'' keep going until you achieve it! Desimag : Imran, where have you been????

Imran: (Laughs) - I've been busy Working on the new album, Sun Ni Ey?

Desimag: Thodi sunni ey! and it sounds HOT! Since ''Ni Nachley'' you have totally dissapeared from the face of the earth? Tell us what you've been workng on?

Imran: Ive been working on my new album which is filled with new beats from Rock, House, Hip-hop, Rnb. It has a variety of different tracks.

Desimag: Ni Nachley was such a huge track in the UK. How did you feel.

Imran: Well we didnt know that it was going to be so huge! We only had a single and no album to follow it up you see. Thats why you had to wait for a while.

Desimag : You made us wait two years but after listening to the album, its well worth it!

Imran: The album has 15 tracks, 12 of which are produced by Eren E and Hakan Ozan, I co-produce the rest on the album but for most of the tracks, the credit goes to Eren E, a great talented producer from Turkey, who in his own time studied the great art of bhangra. As far as my lyrics are concerned, I have been a great fan of the legends like Chan Chamkila and i wrote my whole album in a year.

Desimag: Who inspires you?

Imran: Artists like Chan Chamkila, I am a big fan of.

Desimag : What are you working on next?

Imran: I will be traveling to 12 UK cities which include, Southall, manchester, Bolton, Leicester, Birmingham etc for album signings and im also working on the video for my song 'Bewafa.' I plan on releasing a 4th video, but I'm unsure about which track to use as of yet. 

Desimag: Tell us about the lyrics in Amplifier?

Imran: "I was just driving around one day and the line 'ghadi vich baija' (take a seat in my car) came to me." I then took this line and added my own twist to the traditional 'tu meri Laila, main tera Majnu' (you are my Juliet, as I am your Romeo) and created his lyric "ni ghadi sadi baija...ni woofer tu meri, main tera amplifier" (take a seat in my car...you are my woofer and I am your amplifier).   

Desimag :Imran, you sure know how to excite things in a song! Even though your lyric's are simple and straight forward, only you can add that masala to it and make them work! What would you like to say to those young artists who are trying to get into the music industry today?
