ITV will screen 59 live IPL matches this spring after the broadcaster snapped up the UK rights to show this year's lucrative Twenty20 tournament in India.

The series, starting on March 12, will feature seven England stars this year after Eoin Morgan joined Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Ravi Bopara, Graham Napier and Owais Shah, when the 23-year-old Dublin-born batsman was snapped up during January's auction for £134,000 by Royal Challenger Bangalore.Matt Smith will pair up with Bollywood actress Mandira Bedi to front the coverage on ITV4, after the commercial public service broadcaster snapped up the rights on a nominal fee, which were available following the collapse of the Setanta Sport network.

'Fans in the UK - this is what you have been waiting for. Today we have signed IPL to be shown on ITV, the biggest and best TV platform in UK,' said IPL commisioner Lalit Modi, posting in social networking site Twitter.
