Innovated by Third Faction, supported by various London university Pakistan Societies including: Kings College, Brunel University, Surrey, Westminster, London School of Economics, University of Cambridge, BPP University, University of Roehampton and In affiliation with The National College of Arts (NCA) Pakistan, this show is not to be missed.

13th October celebrated the birth of the finest and most famous world renowned Pakistani artist in the history of Pakistan – Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Many students, particularly those from Pakistani Societies at universities, have come together to hold this event in conjunction with 3rd Faction and sponsors, to commemorate the legend and to celebrate Pakistan. This event is open to all people.

What makes it even better is that it will be taking place around the festive season of Eid ul Azha and Diwali, hence attracting even more attendees who will be in a more festive and extroverted spirit. We are expecting a minimum of 300 attendees although the theatre capacity is 400+, which we can easily increase the tickets to should the event have higher demand. Various Pakistan Societies from universities in and around London will be working in unity to make this event happen and 3rd Faction will be overlooking and coordinating the event to ensure it is one of the best of its kind.

The night will be full of soul touching music which will give pleasure to your ears and sink in to your hearts. Music lovers who admire the unforgotten king of qawalli, will come and join us at this event where three fine young artists who draw inspiration from the great late ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan will perform his wonderful songs, qawali’s and various pieces of work, giving you nostalgia by remembering his talent but also showing the audience their fresh styles. On this day last year, a young British Pakistani singer, Ali Abbas, released a tribute song to the legend which was a remix of the maestro’s ‘Nit Khair Manga’, which reached number one at the BBC Asian Network’s chart, number 1 at Sunrise Radio and various other charts and also spent over 2 months at top positions on the UK iTunes world chart.

The young artist believes ustad NFAK’s music is what really brought him in to singing and considers Khan sahab as his spiritual teacher of music.

This young vocalist was keen to do something to commemorate his inspiration and so decided to perform for his birthday to mark the special day with something huge to commemorate and send respect to the late ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. We will have this young talent, Ali Abbas, performing at the event, as well as the son of another Pakistani singing legend, Shaukat Ali Khan, who is particularly and internationally known for his trademark Punjabi folk singing.

This artist goes by the name Ameer Shaukat Ali Khan. The third artist is a lighter and more romantic vocalist known well for performing ghazals and also traditional numbers. He is a singer from a family of artists – the Patiyala Gharana of musicians, Shahid Abbas Khan.

These three amazingly talented vocalists will come together to bring the audience traditional qawalli’s and ghazals by ustad NFAK with both traditional as well as modern sounds.
